Four Jobs You Must Perform to Retain Your Hard-Earned Followers

Having achieved consistency in posting new material to your blog, Facebook Fan Page and Twitter, you might think that all your work is done.

If so, you are missing the four jobs you need to do to retain those followers.

In order to turn potential internet customers into the real thing you need to create two-way interactions. When you post a comment, trivia question or an invitation on Facebook, for example, people are going to respond. You need to be there to look for their responses as soon as you can. This is a golden window of opportunity for both of you to get to know each other. And in the process others who are watching may decide to join in because you are available.

Here are the four jobs you need to put on your daily calendar to make sure that you or your assistants are available:

Be sure that several times a day you:

    1. Go to your website dashboard to see if you have received any comments. Thank your commenter by name and reply. If you have received a negative comment, you have a chance here to make things right. Remember others are watching.

    1. Go to your Facebook Fan Page and make your comment. Then stay there for a little while. Someone might make a remark and you want to be there for him or her. Don’t forget to thank everyone by name. You also need to check your page at least two other times a day.

    1. There are many programs available that help you keep track of remarks, retweets and direct mentions you receive from Twitter. It’s a good idea to keep such programs either on or checked regularly several times a day after you post.

    1. Don’t depend on your memory to get these accomplished. There will be times when you are having meetings or involved in some other activity where you cannot do this at a regularly scheduled time. Just make sure that you do the activity the right number of times if not at the usual time.

What do you need to do to stay involved in your internet activities?
