Have you ever found an infographic that yelled your name? I have, often, but this has to be my new favorite -- HOW TO CREATE content ideas for a FOR A NEW CLIENT (check out the different colors, etc. for the title). As I looked down it, I realized that while it is addressed to inbound marketering agencies' creative departments, it is also on point for anyone blogging for his or her own business. So it applies to you, you, and, yes, you.
The infographic, created by COPYPRESS, is divided up into five parts and each part deserves a blog of its own. I am not going there. What I am going to do is a two-part examination of it. Hold on to your hats because we have the most simple, most complete arrangement for content creation you will ever see or hear. I will try to keep my remarks brief so that you can think about the information in the infographic.
Get Ready . . .
- Part 1 is get to know the client. Since you are the client, here are 3 simple questions for you to ask yourself along with things you need to identify for each question. What do you do or sell, why do you do it, and what concepts do you use (this refers to industry buzzwords mainly). Do this and Part 2 for homework and you will be closer to writing with intention than you ever have before.
- Part 2 asks you for your goal with the content. Do you want to attract attention, educate, encourage an action or generate traffic? What, you want to do them all? Great, variety being the spice of life you can use these as blog post ideas or use more than one at a time.
- The lower half of Part 2 consists of ways that you can use the questions above to further define your goals. As an example, if you want to educate then your specific reasons are to build authority in your field or niche and to provide value to your readers.
Now take some time with this infographic, do the homework, and then decide how you are going to apply these principles to your content. Let me know what you decide.
And I will see you, you and, yes, you in the second part of this infographic examination at How to Create Content Ideas By the Number Part 2.
